When we developed the marketing plan for this book, we included unconventional contacts that were appropriate for its themes. These included adoption associations, libraries, book clubs, and summer camps, in addition to the typical contacts that a project team collects. Our question was this: How do we reach the unconventional ones?
Start to Finish
Like every kind of genre fiction, we knew that the mystery genre has a large audience, which would be great for Ooligan to break into. We just needed to get there. How? Well, that’s part of the mystery.
Told with breathtaking imagery and imbued with compassion, THE STEP BACK examines the loneliness that sometimes accompanies the transition from adolescence to adulthood, which can take a true reckoning to overcome.
The LAUREL EVERYWHERE team members had their work cut out for them to compile and utilize Ooligan’s first-ever press kit.
The collection’s newest title, FINDING THE VEIN, is a murder mystery that takes place at Heritage Camp, a summer camp for adopted children. It follows the story of teenage camper Isaac and Detective Mikie O’Malley as they try to solve the case of a murdered camp counselor.
Cover design is an important, frequently complicated affair for any press, but Ooligan’s process probably has most beat.
