About the Authors: Marjorie Burns is an author, traveler, and lover of adventure, as well as a professor of English at Portland State University. Currently on leave from teaching to write, she lives with her husband in Washington State, near the base of a dormant volcano. She is an avid kayaker, cyclist, and rock climber. Scott Burns is a professor of geology at Portland State University with research interests that include engineering geology, environmental geology, soils, landslides, geomorphology, and quaternary geology. When not teaching, he serves on numerous geological committees and has written numerous articles, chapter contributions, and books. |
